Coolant Change Procedure for a 2006 Boxster
Hello all,
I have a 2006 Boxster on my hands and it is need of a coolant change. It's filled with green stuff and that generally isn't a good sign. It needs to be filled with proper pink Porsche stuff. My problem is that it isn't like previous Boxsters I've changed the coolant on. In 2003 and earlier Boxsters there is a small allen bolt in the coolant system under the car that is opened to start the draining process and then all of the hose clamps on the coolant hoses are removed to empty the rest of the coolant. In the case of the 2006, the allen bolt which is normally just behind the drain bolt on what I believe is the oil pump isn't there. In addition one the large coolant hoses has a normal hose clamp and the other one has a rather complicated looking connection involving a plastic elbow and some sort of large wire spring clip. If anyone can tell me the procedure for draining the fluid out of a car like this I would really appreciate it! Thanks in advance for you help. J

Just do it when cool and pick the small hose to disconnect. Leave the coolant cap on and it should slow down the draining unless you really want a gusher. The Porsche factory coolant has changed colors. It is now, well as of two years ago pink. The last thing I might suggest is to invest in a vacuum fill device, not expensive and will really help get all the air out of the system and speed the filling. You do not want air in the system. Porsche as a procedure you can also follow in the service manual.
