Double beep after locking door?
The Porsche dealer claims the double beep after locking the door signals the system thinks something is not closed or locked? So, I replaced the locking mechanism and micro switch to the exterior door handle (left side) all works great including the window drop but it still does the double beep when locking the door. What am I missing here? Is there another switch I am missing?
1997 base model

Double beep will sound when one of the following is open ( or has a bad switch )
Doors. Front and rear trunks. Center console lid. Or the stereo head unit is removed ( or replaced wit an aftermarket one ). |

The dealer said it was the drivers door, they wanted $260 to fix it. so, is there another switch besides the micro switch at the door handle? Is there a sensor in the latch? I had the door apart and did not see any other electrical devices.

A SINGLE beep indicates something is not closed...a door, the front or rear trunk, the center console storage box, etc.
A DOUBLE beep means that something is broken in the central locking system. My understanding is that the door sensors are integrated into the door latch unit inside the door. If you replaced it, then the problem is somwhere else. The problem could be in many areas: the passenger door for example. If you have a durametric cable, know someone who has one, or the dealer could tell you what trouble codes the central locking system is still showing. That might help narrow it down. |

Would you clarify why an aftermarket radio would cause this? Thanks |

There is a wire that connects factory radios to the central alarm system. When someone installs an aftermarket radio, there is no place on the new radio to attach this wire. If the unattached exposed wire touches anything and grounds out, it can trigger an alarm. The fix is to place electrical tape over the exposed wire so it cannot short to ground.
