Window switch problem

After a dead battery the Express ( one touch ) function on the windows quit working .
Do you have to reset something or ???

Wayne 962 05-18-2010 01:22 PM

Yes, there is a procedure for resetting the window controller. With the top closed, raise the window and keep the switch pressed down for at least five seconds. Do this for both windows, and that should fix the problem!

Let me know if it does not work,

The windows on my '99 are down and will not come up, any ideas?

windows down won't come up

Joe,
try cycling the top full open to full close. Worked for me on my 97 986.

I gave that a shot, but will try again

It could be the switch in the windshield frame. That will cause issues like this. I would maybe take it out and test it / replace it.

Ok, I think the switch maybe messed up I can actuate it with my finger and the windows will go up but if I release it the windows go down until there is a couple inch gap and they will not go up further.

So the switch functions but just does not seem to be in the proper position, is this how it fails or does it just need an adjustment.

Hmm, a couple inch gap? Sounds like the gap that is there when you raise or lower the roof? The switches are the same left to right - try swapping them and see if the problem follows the switch...

It affects both windows, have a day off today so maybe I will pull the trim off and see if there is an adjustment.

Both windows means that it's nothing to do with the switches, or the windows themselves, or the doors - it's the window controller. There's something telling the window controller that the roof is down (I think). It may be the switch for the roof located in the front windshield part where the roof latches. I would check there first.
