Question for Wayne - exhaust for 3.4
Wayne,
It looks like this year I'll finally be able to step up and install the FabSpeed exhaust in my 3.4 conversion. What parts exactly did you use in yours? I'm looking for catless headers, of which they have a couple. Just wondering what parts you have installed, and if there were any issues with fit?

I originally had the stock exhaust with the 'S' muffler, and then we took it off to install the FabSpeed setup, which I am very happy with. Jared (my assistant) actually did the installation of this particular setup. He commented at the time that it was well made, but it did require quite a bit of "tweaking", which is not uncommon for performance exhaust systems that are hand-made. In terms of "fit", there were no issues, outside of the tweaking and adjustment that is often required.
I have the whole installation process documented in this article here: Pelican Technical Article: Installing a Performance Boxster Exhaust System - 986 / 987 -Wayne

I called Fabspeed this morning to order parts, but they said that I couldn't use off-the-shelf stuff for the conversion - they said they would have to custom-fab the mid-pipes.
If you or Jared has information about which parts you ordered and/or what had to be done to get it to work, it would be much appreciated.

It's reasonably quiet at low RPM and around town driving, but you can tell that it's not stock. At higher RPM, it's considerably louder than the stock exhaust. It has a slight rasp when you transition to higher RPM that doesnt sound too bad. I would imagine that the catless system would be deafening. I've driven it on the track and it really doesn't need any more power. It's extremely well balanced and has amazing throttle response. It's a well-made system, but yeah, you'll spend most of your time during installation getting things to line up and some slight bending here and there. If you have experience with working metal, it's a no-brainer. I've never run into an exhaust system that didn't need some massaging to make it work. You'll probably need to trim away a bit of the exhaust shielding under the car to make it fit just right. Post here if you have any specific questions.
