Of course there are separate listing for each of the DME revisions and each code has a list of causes and each cause has a diagnostic approach needing specialized tools or expertise sometimes.


So while this is a good example of the sorts of codes that are out there, don't depend on it too much as it may not apply to your car or just be the tip of the iceberg.

Yes, there is a 400+ page DME trouble-code book from Porsche. It's in English, but it might as well be in German, it's so difficult to decipher.

I don't think that you can read codes from the TipTronic without a specialized code reader like the PST-2, or perhaps the Durametric tool?

My generic code scanner gave me the 0740 code, which relates to the torque converter clutch as I understand so I know that at least some codes can be read without special equipment. It's not a big deal if they're hard or too numerous to post since I can always simply ask what a code means if I ever get an obscure one.
