When I disconnect the battery lead the alarm goes off, it stops if I reconnect the battery, I'm removing the door trim to get at the window winder and want to disconnect the battery in order to remove the airbag.

Hmm, this makes no sense to me, when you disconnect the battery, the alarm *must* stop, if it's a factory alarm? Can you give more details? I'll copy this question to the forums so that you can reply there.

Wouldn't the battery supply power to the alarm? Sounds like aftermarket, with a reserve power source of some sort.

You could of course just let the thing bleat away until it dies, trust me it will eventually die! Just put the car in the garage, unhook your battery and let it holler. Go out for lunch and when you come back you can get at that window regulator! Good luck, Tinsby |

Agreed, Sounds like an after market alarm. Since thieves are known for disconnecting the battery to keep the alarm from going off. Some after market alarms and a back up battery. That is usually mounted under the dash, somewhere. See link below,

OEM or aftermarket alarm? No OEM alarm on your car described would sound after disconnecting the battery unless..... a second 12 volt battery back-up is hidden -OR- you have an aftermarket alarm with a battery back-up.

If you are in Europe I think there is a factory alarm option with tilt and battery backup. I remember someone in my local group talking about how annoying it was.
