This tool Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com shows everything other than 295s work OK and they might at 1.1 inches further out. They could rub, but if so you could probably roll the fenders. I have a set the same sizes that I haven't tried yet. I've been trying to sell them with no luck, so when my tires wear out I will put them on and see how they fit.

the rear fenders have barely enough space to fit a 10" rim
If you want to squeeze in an 11" you need to extend the fenders by 1" ![]() The fronts should be no problem at all But yes, these hollow spokes on craigslist sure looked nice ![]()

Hatzenbach is right - 996 and 997 wheels will not fit on a Boxster without rolling rear fenders.

yeah they do look really nice! I wanted to buy them with minimum hassle on the installation. but I guess rolling my rear fenders wouldn't be too bad... Thanks for all the replies everyone it really helped me make my decision. |

not 100% correct 10" 996 rear rims have an ET65 offset and will fit on a 986 (with stock suspension) if a) you install 18mm spacers b) you zip tie the e-brake lines to the control arms so that they don't rub against the rubber of the tires

How much tolerance with a 18mm spacer?
Im saying this because I've seen 15 and 21 mm. Would this work? Would the wheel fit without rubbing ? Or I have to get some custom made 18mm. Thank you for the answer. |

Okay, I give. Indeed, you can make them fit with spacers, and perhaps some rolling, and some tweaking of the inside of the wheel well. But I don't really recommend it. Almost all of the wheels available for 996s are also available for Boxsters with the proper offsets and widths. I looked into this when I was getting wheels for my 996 or Boxster a few years ago. I found that if one is just patient, then the right offset wheels will come along.
That said, I welcome people to post the combinations that they have managed to get to work on their car! -Wayne

I bought this set of Carrera wheels (7.5 front and 10 in the rear) some time ago and had no clue about offsets etc. Mounted the rears and was glad how nicely they seemed to fit, but then found out during my first drive around the block that the inside of the rim was touching the strut (which is obviously not good ![]() So I called the guy who sold them to me and he then offered 18mm spacers which I took. With these the inside of the rim clears the strut by one or two mm and the outside of the tire just clears the wheel well by a hair. And this with a car which was lowered by 1 1/2 inch. But nevertheless it worked ![]() Then I switched to PSS9 and now the rims did no longer fit as the PSS9 need more inside clearance. I sold the rims yesterday but still have the 18mm spacers with the needed longer bolts and am entertaining offers ....
