Alarm, central locking and windows won't work
Hi all,
I have tried replacing the C3 and D1 fuses to no avail. The power windows drop 1" when opening and closing the doors, but that is it. They never drop when opening/closing the top or using the buttons. The power window switches are a little sticky. I'm not sure if they work; is there a way to test? I have removed them and cleaned them with electrical spray including all the connectors, but it did not help. I tried using the heated seat switches (as I know they work) but it didn't work with them either. When I try and lock the car from the key fob, on 2nd press, the horn sounds twice. I think this means that it thinks something is open? but nothing is open. The alarm sensors have no cover; I'm not sure if this is anything to do with it? (BTW, does anyone have a part number for them?) All other fuses look fine. The fuse in the alarm box is also fine. No dampness/wetness under either seat. I have no had the car long so I don't know if anything has been done recently to cause this. It still has the OEM radio. Has anyone any suggestions? :( |
I had a similar problem with my car (996) they other day - the alarm wouldn't arm and would give the two beeps. Indeed, there is a switch that is probably broken, and causing this. Question - when you go to drop the top, will the car actually allow you to lower the top?

Would one switch cause all these issues? The windows drop (a small amount) when I open the door, however when I close the door they do not (so I have to open the handle a small amount to make the window drop and fit under the top. |

Do you think this would cause the window switch/alarm issues? |

I would try replacing one door lock mechanism and see if that fixes the problem with the windows popping back up. I think it will. If yes, then replace the opposite side in a similar manner. -Wayne |

I will order a dock lock mechanism and go from there. Finally progress! |
Wayne,
Do you know the name for this part of the car, and do you stock it/know where I can get it? http://f.cl.ly/items/1X0F02233j0U2m1s2G0m/photo.JPG Thanks, Rob |
I know it's been a long time, but did you ever figure out this issue? I have the exact same issue:
1. Door windows do not raise / lower with switches 2. Door windows do not raise / lower when operating top (which does go up/down) 3. Door windows do drop when opening door with lever 4. Alarm will not set with keyfob, but I can use the key in the door hand to lock and arm I recently installed a stereo, but never tested the lock or windows (poor weather and didn't drive the car) - is it possible this could be related to the stereo install??? Both doors appear to "sense" open/close properly - and I find it odd that a sense for a trunk latch going bad would stop the windows from open/close. Help!?? |
Exact Same Problem!
Windows & Locks do absolutely nothing. Top goes up & down just fine. Can only lock with key in door. Alarm does not arm. Replaced top latch microswitches. P.O. must've done it before cause it was all glued together. Didn't affect any operation. Car runs fine. Someone please offer some useful information to fix this. Thank You! |
Very Similar Issue
Key has no electronic guts
Power windows do not work - they go up and down a bit when I open the door, not sure about when the top goes up or down Key (with no guts) only locks/unlocks the drivers door Central lock button on dash does nothing No lights in either trunk or the interior come on Horn is unplugged i suspect the grommets went bad behind the air bag Air Bag light is on but I suspect this is due to aftermarket seats being installed and the cables from the seat belt latch are disconnected Cruise Control does not work Immobilizer - took it apart last night and it looks like it was on fire. Battery has 12.86V I would love to put power the appropriate pins at the window connectors to see if the window motors are bad; if anyone has a copy of that circuit that can share that would be great. Help Please! |
Motor terminals are II/7 and II/5. Socket II is the right. Terminal 7 is the middle left (27), terminal 5 is the middle bottom ((25).http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1655840057.JPG
