2002 boxster s Tiptronic emergency run problem. plz help!

Im trying to trace down a problem with my 2002 Boxster S. I get the Tiptronic emergency run message a lot and it seems to be getting worse. As far as i can tell, shifting in my porsche is just fine. When you run the codes on the computer, it doesnt show any problems stored. Ill recieve the alarm and then it immediately clears. It happens even when setting at a stop light and not moving??? Yesterday while driving around town, it happened 4 times in 5 miles of stop and go Houston traffic. Has this happened to anyone else?? Please help me if you can.. thanks, Jonathan

My car has 60,000 miles on it.

The warning is sent by the Tiptronic control unit and is not necessarily stored in the DME. The possible causes are too many to list from tire wear to a faulty control unit. Your best course is to take it to a shop with access to a Porsche specific scanner, i.e. duramtric, PIWIS, etc., and diagnose from there. Trust me, if you are seeing a warning a fault is stored in the Tiptronic control unit.

There are only some of the most expensive Porsche specific diagnostic units/software that can access Tiptronic codes. Most simple code readers can't. So what read the codes on your car? And if all you have is a code reader, get the car to someone who has a PST2 or PIWIS right now..transmission rebuilds are expensive...I paid for one 3 months ago so I am painfully aware you don't drive em when a fault is shown.
