Erratic shifting - Tip

I'm new to Boxsters and Tiptronic. I'm just a little curious about their shifting. On a couple of occasions it seems as if I confused the computer...

When coming to a fast corner sometimes I will tap the brake then hit the gas. It doesn't seem to know which gear to go into. Once it seemed as if it didn't want to go into any gear. I had to release the gas, hit it again then it went into a super low gear (I didn't pay attention to which gear). Just found this odd.

I remember reading a post that suggests resetting the Tiptronic computer to remove stored shifting modes. I can't seem to find this post. Can anyone help?

Here's what I was told about Tiptronic and the disclaimer is that I was given this information by a Porsche trained mechanic so I'm just passing it along. The Tip ECU has a "learning capability" that can adapt to your driving style. You can disconnect the battery and the stored information in the Tip ECU is erased and you start all over again. The other way the Tip ECU "learns" is to change your driving style and it will adapt to it i.e. if you start to drive more aggressively the Tip ECU will take longer to shift and allow you to rev up higher in the rpm range. Conversely if you want to get better gas mileage and drive less aggressively the Tip ECU will shift into 5th gear quicker. Typically the Tip will not downshift into first it is programmed to downshift into second as it's lowest gear but here again if you have driven around in a less aggressive style and suddenly start driving aggressively it won't "learn" right away and if you want to have it shift more aggressively then put it in "M" and shift yourself.
It's not perfect but it does learn and adapt to how you are driving the car. I change back and forth between "D" and "M" while driving depending on the situation. Most of the time I don't like it when the Tip decides to stay in third when cornering so I will switch it over to "M" as I approach and downshift it into second myself. First is just too low and I rarely use it except at AX or when I'm in a non sanctioned drag race. I also don't like it when the Tip decides to shift into fifth when I'm going up a hill or when the rpm's get below 2K so I'll change over to "M" and downshift to get more power uphill or to raise the rpms while cruising.
Remember if you decide to disconnect your battery you will have to reprogram your radio with the code and you will have to reset your one touch window function by lowering and raising them manually for a cycle.

Helps a lot, thanks. Since I just had the car for a little over a week, I guess its still learning. I'm also in a relearning mode. I haven't driven an automatic in over 10 years.

Don't really like the shifting on the wheel, wish they would have kept the old tip style, with the up/down shifting on the stick. Or at least have both. Just my first week's impression.

There's pros and cons to the shift points on the steering wheel and my main one is trying to get the up and down shift correct when rapidly turning the steering wheel in tight turns in AX. On the track it's not an issue as most of the turns are broader and you can keep your thumbs at the 9 and 3 position. I've owned my Tip for three years and wouldn't go back to a stick especially when I drive into The City and don't have to use my emergency brake on the hills and don't have to paddle back in traffic.
