Plastic windshield cowl cheap fix
Might be silly but this may have helped me had I seen somebody else do it. Simple fix for the pesky cracked windshield cowl that is so prevalent on these. I’ve read about using carbon fiber to reshape the cracked mount, using tiger hair, making a little frame, etc. I went the cheapo route and purchased a threaded sleeve at the local hardware, screwed it on top of the existing threads under the access cap(do not remove the existing nut that used to hold down the cowl, unless you need more threads). At said store I picked up a black hex head screw that fits into the pictured sleeve(least offensive screw head that they had in store). Drill hole carefully in cap, and put a small rubber washer in. A little hillbilly but cheap fix that has held up. And removable.

I definitely wasted some time cobbling that stupid thing. When I do it your way I will drill the hole oversized so there is some room for cowl twist.
I have also considered gluing the rubber lip to the cowl plastic and then gluing that to the windshield. Maybe a little too aggressive and will suck if you have to replace windshield. Nice work, thanks for sharing
