Attached is a picture of the main transmission shaft bearing behind the throw-out bearing support tube.
Wondering if this looks like it's supposed to? ![]() __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: Pelican Technical Article: Boxster Clutch Replacement - 986 / 987 |

The bearing looks like it has failed and requires replacement.

I haven't seen that before in a transmission - that looks like an IMS-style failure.

Bearing removal?
Can anyone advise if this bearing is pressed in, or can it be removed with a hammer-slide type bearing puller? There was a snap-ring that I've already removed.
I have a replacement bearing. |

Should be a press-fit - you might have to chip away at the outer side of the bearing in order to get it out. I personally have not changed this bearing previously, so I'm not really 100% sure.
