Red face no acceleration, flashing transmission lights - HELP!

Hello,

I just replaced the automatic transmission on this 2002 Boxster. The battery was disconnected for a while. Now, when i start the engine, it does not accelerate at all. I'm getting 100% TPS value on the scan tool constantly. The TPS connector is on properly. I believe there is an adaptation procedure.(Turn key on for 1 min. then off for at least 10 secs.) - Already tried that. Also, the transmission position indicator lights on the dashboard are alternatively flashing between P and 4. The transmission does move the wheels in forward and reverse.

Note: The vehicle is hoisted with all 4 wheels off the ground and the rear half of the convertible top is open.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like your trans is in "limp home mode" where it has gone into a higher gear to protect itself from further damage. It would have to be diagnosed by someone who is familiar with the Tips. Have you disconnected the battery then reconnected it to see if the ECM for the trans resets itself?

No i have not disconnected the battery. Will "LIMP HOME MODE" cause the engine to not accelerate at all though? ----The transmission is the same one it had before. It was not completely overhauled. Just replaced the pump and filter.---I didn't do that myself. Im not sure if they mistakenly disconnected any wires inside when they pulled the pan. Also, i noticed the the round connector(On tanny) was sprayed with paint also, but it doesn't seem like the pins got any paint on them, i can't really tell because they are metallic grey colored and the paint is metallic grey too.

Update:

I resolved the acceleration issue. It was 2 loose wires on the throttle actuator connector. Transmission lights still flashing. I noticed the MPH meter is not moving. Vehicle Speed sensor issue? I not sure if the transmission is shifting. The vehicle is still hoisted. Have not driven it yet.

could be that the whole system is getting confused since the rear wheels are moving and the fronts are not, try driving it with all four wheels on the ground and see what happens?

Drove it yesterday and shifts fine on auto, but the tranny indicator lights still flash between P and 4 and the Manual Shift is not working. And something doesn't feel quite right, not exactly sure what it is but i can feel something when i come to a stop. Im driving it without the 2 reinforcing members. Let's see what i can find today.

HELLO I can tell you that your spark plug boots need to be changed out. I had the same problem twice and both times it was the plug boot. Glad I didn't change all out the first time because in both instances it fixed the problem.

Does the Trans have the proper Leven of fluid in it? There is a specific procedure to fill and you also need to use the specific fluid (pentosin af1 iirc, but not sure).
Why was the Trans replaced in the first place?
Did you replace it with a new Trans? Or rebuilt?
Do you have durametric or a way to scan the Trans?

Having the car in the air will trip the traction control, when running in the air turn of the psm via the button if the car has one.....

Trans

To check the transmission oil on a Tip tronic you will have to warm the transmission to 30-40 degrees centigrade. You will need a Porsche scan tester or another tool the monitor the temperature. Then with the vehicle level and the engine idling and in park you will remove the trans oil check plug . There should be a little oil dribbling out of opening. If no fluid comes out then you will have to fill it though that plug. Did you get you manual program back when you drove it? JW
