101 Projects - service position

2004 Boxster S with rear glass window.
Wayne I've been trying to get my top into the service position to do some engine work but as the photo shows, I can't get it into the same position as your book shows. Is there a trick I'm missing?

Pat.

The manual calls for something like 23.5 inches, window frame to top bow. I'd start with that.

In the photo the open distance is 20". I've tried 8" & 12" and the canvas top is to tight to fold the window in far enough. At 24 -26" the top is back too far and the window lies even more in the horizontal than the photo shows.
At 20" there is just enough space to fold the window in and just clear the roll bars but it just won't go any further.

Might it be easier just to take the whole top and frame off with the help of a friend.

Thanks Mike,
Is there a link that shows how to do that?
I'll start out with the present opening and if frustration builds then removing the top will be my backup.
