Boxster weird noise help

I've checked every forum for this sound and heard 4 clips but none match this. It's coming from the right rear and I thought it was the wheel but it wasn't. Doesn't sound like a bearing and it's not a rubbing metal to metal sound. It sounds right in the wheel area but it might be a belt. Not too sure. It doesnt' get louder but it starts when i roll 20mph and over. i uploaded the best sound i can get. help plz!!

02 boxster (base) with 64,002 miles. 5 spd manual

Chirbit - noise - T0mkat - share audio easily

Cool

Ok I heard the clip. Very hard to here what you are concerned about. Sounds like you inspected the wheel. Maybe a throw out bearing?? Does the noise you here come and go as you step on the clutch?Does the noise change in different gears? How do you know it is not a wheel bearing. Did you put a stethoscope to it? I thought I heard a higher pitch sound is that what you are concerned about? Just guessing with the info you have given me. LOL JW

My friend has a s2000 and he has a Wheel bearing problem. It literally sounds like a chainsaw being dragged on concrete floor. My noise is different so I assumed it wasn't. I know the audio isn't too good but it was the best I can get. Plus, I had my fiancé ride a bike chasing me and hear it out. The sound is still there when I shift and with I clutch in or out. It might be a bearing. But yeah, it's a high pitch sound. I thought it was the S.A.I but from the clip I heard about that is different than mine.

Couldn't hear anything.

If you think is not a bearing Im gonna throw this:

I had noises coming from bent dust shield when replacing tires. Bad brake pads. Debris in pads/caliper

Assuming there are no mechanical issues. Hope it helps.

That does help actually. I ordered new pads and was going to weight to put them in. Ill try it this weekend n clean it out n see how it goes. Thanks. I'm adding a audio system into my car too and I'm fabricating my own box. I was gonna spend the whole day doing everything but I need to fix this first. And also switch out my spring clock. My horn only works when ignition is off.

I agree with faverymi .I had not mentioned the brakes because you had stated that there was not a metal to metal scraping sound which is usually associated with a brake shield or parking brake assembly problem. Although the hi pitch I thought I heard make my wonder.

Im really bored with the 30 inch storm and we are banned from driving today.

I was thinking also about the fan that is on R side . Since you mentioned high pitch and stays somehow consistent.

Engine compartment fan

On your R side opening vent ( the R scoop on the fender in front of rear wheel)

You can access it from the top. Have to remove engine cover.

Could be. Who knows???

Just changed all 4 brake pads. Clean everything n the noise still there. It might be a bearing after all.

Well at least we know you have great brakes now. LOL Why don't you now try a stethoscope as I had stated. Have a professional do this if you can't because it could be dangerous. See if you can here a noticeable difference between the right and left side. At this point it is worth a try.

I've got the same noise. No movement up and down in the wheel when I pull on it. Pulled wheel off and rotor turns smoothly on the bearing. Noise on mine starts at around 25 mph and gets loudest at 45 mph then tends to lessen. I think it is the wheel bearing in the early stages of going bad. Not much else there to make that noise.

Probably. I've come to that conclusion also. Thanks for recognizing that sound. It was hard to get somebody to relate to. Any DIY for this? Or any idea how Mich this will cost?

It actually stays a constant spund. I can tell its getting faster cuz its from a rotation. It gets louder day by day which I assume its gettin worse. I'm taking it in to a shop here in town. 700 to fix one. I have a body kit but nothing is interfering with each other

If its getting worse it sounds like a bearing.
Regarding the bodywork, under some circumstances your bodywork can act like a whistle.
That happend to me after i got my front bumper fixed, the space between the lid and the bumper was not correct aligned so i got a strange sound on my right side.

I used some scotchtejp over every joint and it was gone.
So the chop had to align the bumper again.
