Rear Trailing Arm Tie Rods?
I am looking at a 2000 Boxster S that is 2500 miles away from me. I had the Porsche dealer do a PPI on it and one of the things that came up was:
"rear trailing arm tie rods have play causing clunking noise when going over bumps" What part do you think they are referring to in this case? The control arm bushings? Can the rear control arms be rebuilt in a DIY fashion, or does it require special tools? |

There is a lot of confusion about the proper name for the many control arm links on a Boxster suspension. I believe they are referring to the rear trailing arms which commonly make this noise. Their is no accepted method to rebuild them, but you can buy the TRW brand part which is identical & cheaper than the Porsche brand. I think this is a good sign that you got a good PPI.

Yeah, I might just have to wait until I get it to find out. I emailed the dealer that did the PPI to see if they can shed a little more light on it.
