sudden power loss under heavy load

Hi - I have a 2002 boxster and have been experiencing intermittent power loss under high load - usually over 5500 or 6000 RPM. Car doesn't die just loses power/throttle response. Kill and restart of the ignition and it's fine. Happens intermittently and difficult to reproduce. Searching around I've seen the MAF as a likely candidate but after replacing it, it's happened a few times. It does produce a code p1508.

Has anyone had similar issues, been able to resolve it or have any suggestions?

By any chance do you have an automatic. IIRC, P1508 is a torque converter fault.

On Rennlist, there was a similar thread. Not sure how the owner solved it, but suggestions ranged from replace / refurbish DME or a broken throttle jacking unit whatever that is.

If the DME acts as a soft rev limiter, I can see how one might find that it causes your symptoms if it acts up
