Coolant temp sensor resistance

What is the nominal running temp or baseline temp resistance reading for an 01 boxster S coolant temp sensor? I have one reading open and would like to put a resistor across it to test the gauge to make sure it is a sensor issue.

How many contacts are on the sensor -- I read once that there were 4 for the older DMEs:

# 2 & 3 supplies the signal for the instrument cluster coolant temp
#1 & 4 supplies the DME with the coolant temp

I did see a diagram once that showed the sensor resistance was approx 1000 ohms for approx 80 deg C temp.

HTH

paul...

Its a two wire sensor, even if someone has one in a box and can pull it out and put a multi meter across it so I can have a value to see whats going on. I metered the wires from the plug to the harness at the comp and they are good. But once I connect the plug and start the car I get the flashing light on the temp gauge and the needle doesn't move even after warm. I would love to know the resistance just to see if things clear up with a resistor in it before I order one. Spent the weekend putting a water pump and AOS on it. And really want to see it run again after hours of wrenching.
