Clutch making loud squeaking noise down underneath

Went to start the car and it won't. I noticed that when I was pushing the clutch pedal down that I could hear a pretty loud rubbery squeak from the transaxle area with each push.

Might the 2 be related? I have put in one clutch switch and know about those. Don't remember how to test them. I also am due for a new ignition switch, but this time no amount of teasing the switch will get the engine to turn over.

Battery seems up. Will further test that, but not even a click from the starter. I don't think that's the issue.

Thoughts?

I found this thread from just a few days ago: squeaky clutch

Really doesn't answer any questions but the description of the noise is exact.

Hi Zeke, I don't think the 2 issues are related & sounds like the ignition switch is suspect, has it ever been replaced? My clutch switch often slips out of position. I have heard of people fiddling with the ignition switch & key until it works but be sure battery is fully charged.

Thanks for the reply. I drove the car in and it sat for exactly one week. Everything was fine, or so I thought. On the ignition switch, I took both the keys and cleaned them with brake cleaner and haven't had one start issue for about 2 months.

I should mention that there is no puddle on the ground under the trans.

I got the car started, so the BY was right, no correlation. I need to do a switch change and go from there. I think I'll have the 60K service done and let the mechanic deal with the squeak.
