Starting issue. Cranks does not start.

Hi, I could use some help. My Boxster left me stranded at a light. Would crank but not start. After checking fuel pump fuse was ok I had it towed home. I jumpered pins 30 and 87 on fuel pump relay and it started. Ordered relay from Pelican. Installed, it started, drove 5 miles to an appointment, then would not restart. Towed home. Also I have installed a new fuel filter less than a year ago. Before I hooked up Durametric I tried ignition and it started. Durametric revealed 6 codes. The first one has been ongoing. The last 5 are new.

P0455:
Porsche fault code 94 - Tank vent system (major leak)

P1130:
Porsche fault code 361 - Oxygen sensing adaptation idle range bank 2

P1341:
Porsche fault code 174 - Camshaft adjustment bank 1 below limit value

P1579:
Porsche fault code 111 - Crankshaft sensor

P0336:
Porsche fault code 110 - Engine speed sensor Open circuit

P1124:
Porsche fault code 167 - Fuel pump relay below limit value

Regarding the first ongoing code, I've replaced the gas cap, carbon canister, vacuum canister, secondary air vac valve, 2 check valves. Still got that code but was running fine so I ignored it awaiting more insight.

I did not think to unhook maf during start failure. I did replace it within 10,000 miles though. It was running normal prior to problem. I did detect a very slight miss at idle similar to when I had a hairline crack in a coil pack.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Garry

Codes 110 and 111 tell me that the crankshaft sensor or its wiring are suspect. We had a similar issue with a Passat recently and that was the cause there...

Thanks, I've since noticed it will start when cold and run ok. Will not start when at operating temp. Would this eliminate the crank sensor? Does it imply something else?
Thanks again.

Actually, that just firms up my thoughts. Sensor gets hot and dies on you. Not sure what kind of sensor it is, but hall effect sensors on BMW K series motorcycles are notorious for failing in this manner (take that for what it's worth).

Quick question for ya. Does the idle RPM kind of hunt around when it's at operating temp? I've chased this gremlin.

Update. Last night I started it, erased the codes, and let it idle till it died. 15 min or so. Reached 180 degrees. Then flashed an immobilizer code on the durametric. No other codes yet. I realize some may take a few drive cycles before reappearing. Doe's anyone know what causes the immobilizer to kick in? Will a car start at all if the immobilizer fuse is blown under the drivers seat? Next I'll see if it will start when warmed up by disconnecting the maf, just for kicks. Randy it doesn't run long enough at operating temp to tell if it hunts or not.
Thanks for all replies.

One of the first things I did on mine was replace the CPS as I had the same problem. However, it did not go away. I also had the code you show as
P0455:
Porsche fault code 94 - Tank vent system (major leak)
The last thing I replaced that fixed the issue was the tank vent line with the purge valve on it.
If you dare to go through my thread in the link below, You'll see post #156. Also see Keith's post on the link #154.

Hey Randy where does the other end of the vent line go? The larger line on the bottom of the intake left side. Also was it you that I read said you could get that line off without removing the intake? I felt around blindly today but could not determine the type of fitting.
Thanks,
Garry

Okay finally replaced the CPS and it solved my hot start issue. Now I have rattles and vent problems to chase for a while. Thanks for all who replied.
