Strange Behavior of a 2010 CS with PDK

So I was thinking of trading my 08 5 speed for a 2010 S with PDK but the car didn't pull away from the parking lot with the speed I expected given the amount of throttle I applied and the speed of the cars coming towards me. That's what got my eyebrows up near the hairline the first time. Then coming to my first stop and the car was very jerky. Up go the eyebrows again.

I've read this goes away as the car warms up or you drive it harder while still in the default normal mode. That's what I don't get. Why would it go away at all?
