hi. ive had a 1998 boxster for a few years. great machine. a freind has a 2.7L 2000 car he wants to sell cheap.. was thinking of buying the motor from it and tossing it in the 1998. i believe basd onthe articles its an easy swap. do i need to reprogram the DME? anything else required other than straight forward drop and reinstall? where do i get the DME programmed dealer? and what happens if i dont?

You may be better off grabbing his DME and other components as well. Your DME will not work, as far as I know.

Don't tell the DME what you have done & it will never know the difference. You will need to use a cable operated throttle body like your original, with either the original intake plenum "T" or a 996 plenum & T/B for a little more power. Before installing the engine have the fuel injectors pressure cleaned & tested to insure they are spraying out the fuel like they should.
