Boxster Option code decoder
Hi all,
I just bought a 2000 Boxster S, after having sold my '82 Targa. I very much love the Boxster so far. But what I wanted to post about is this: while I was shopping I found it annoying that decoding option codes involved looking at long tables of codes on web sites and doing searches on the pages to find the codes in order to get the descriptions. Then, I'd have to write down, or copy/paste the descriptions in order to keep track of them. Being a programmer, I finally got around to addressing the problem, at least partially. I just put up this website, which lets you key in ALL your option codes at once, and it looks up the descriptions and gives them back to you in a nice table. You can then print that off, or copy/paste it, or whatever. It even works fairly well on a mobile device (iPhone/iPad tested, thus far). Here's the URL: 986 Option Code Lookup I have a few more ideas about how to make the page more useful, but I would love to receive feedback. You can write me at mike _ thomas at yahoo do+ c0m (hmm -- that's something I need to add: a "contact me" link :-)). I hope it comes in handy for folks. Enjoy!

Hi all,
I have made a number of adjustments to the option code lookup page over the last couple of weeks. Today I spent a few hours to add paint code lookup as well. Note that the page only works for 986s at the current time. Thanks, Mike

My pleasure. It has been fun for me to put together. A different style of programming than what I normally do at work.

Thanks for trying it and reporting your results. Interestingly, I also have a 2000 S, and the option code of 601 for my Xenons (which matches). I'll have to see if I can find the proper descriptions for your missing codes.
Thanks, again! Quote:
