reed/magnetic switch

Hi, I have a 2001 boxster s. I put in a vent valve (under the wheel well), and the problem of filling with fuel got worse.

I accidentally detached the magnetic switch/reed switch upon re-inspection and have no idea where it goes. Looking at the old vent valve, it doesn't look like it goes there nor on the blue valve thing.

Any ideas? Got the car up now, anyone with insight greatly appreciated!!!

Dan

figured that part out...now more

well i figured out where reed switch goes, thanks to others out on the web, but absent was a picture, as to where in the housing of the vent valve it goes. So when changing a vent valve, you WILL displace this reed switch, and your gas filling problem will be much worse. Here are the pictures where the sensing switch goes, inside the vent valve housing.

Next problem....Now I'm able to fill my tank, but after 15 gallons, it still read only half full--should have been full. I'm hoping that the car needs to 're-acclimate.' But, after filling it, the initial troubling problem when this saga started re-emerged...I wasn't able to start the car, until I stepped on the gas. Again, I'm hoping the computer will re-learn. But otherwise, I'm concerned that it's the fuel pump or some fuel sensor or something with this 'start
issue.' Thoughts?

Here are the pictures of the reed/magnetic switch placement. Keep passing the knowledge!!!

oh, and a tip, loosely secure the vent valve with the two screws, THEN slide the switch in the slot. you need to do this from the gas cap opening, and remove the plastic liner to do this...

After all this, i disconnected the battery, and reconnected, started, and it still reads half full incorrectly on the fuel gauge instead of full. Thoughts?

I'm hopeful that this was the tank vent line valve (regeneration valve). I've replaced it and
