Help with engine bay hose routing
Hi guys. I'm in the process of doing a 3.4L swap into a '99 Boxster. I bought the car as a shell with no motor, so I've had to figure out where all the different hoses go and which ones I'm missing. It's taken some time, but I have most of it figured out. There are a few left that I am hoping you all can help me with though.
There are two hoses coming from the coolant tank that I'm not 100% sure about. This first one come from the top of the group of three small hoses and has a quick disconnect fitting. ![]() I'm also not sure about the bottom hose in that group. I can freely blow through it all the time. It does not have any clamps on it or the hose in the trunk that connects the bulkhead to the reservoir. I thought this was the vent hose, but it seems odd that i can blow through it freely. ![]() Lastly, on the other side of the engine bay (driver's side, towards front of car) I've got this guy which looks to accept a quick disconnect fitting. I'm guessing that may be the fuel vapor recovery system that hooks up to the fuel tank vent valve? Is that right? ![]() Out of curiosity, I know that two of the lines to the right of it are the fuel lines, but I'm not sure what the line directly to the right of it is. That line runs to the rear of the car and is covered by the heat shields. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Last edited by jloehlein; 09-12-2014 at 11:58 AM.. |

The 1st hose connects to the hose from the top of the coolant heat exchanger on the opposite side of the engine. It has a plastic barb that presses into the fitting. If you go to the Boxster tech articles on this site & look at the coolant tank resivoir DIY it should show the 2nd hose. You might be right on the 3rd hose & once you get the engine in I think it will be obvious.
