Code 1531

I have a 1531 code showing up on my 99 boxster and from what I have read this indicates a possible problem with a camshaft sensor, or solenoid / actuator. I have also been told the car should be running rough. The car is running great not rough, no vibrations or weird noises or misfires. I cleared the code and of course it came back two days latter. Does anyone have this same kind of issue and maybe some advice before I have to drain my wallet at the local dealer.
