2001 Boxster S. I have the flickering interior lights and ticking noise from the engine as I try to start the car, so I am guessing electrical switch? Does the key have to be removed from the ignition and the battery disconnected in order to replace it? Not sure if the electrical switch has any moving parts or not? Could this be a fault with the immobilizer instead?

before replacing any switches, check the battery.
