I installed the "late" model ignition/locking mechanism into a 1998 base Boxster in December of 2013 - part number 996-347-017-07-M100. It was advertised that "all your ignition switch problems would be cured" after installing this new and improved mechanism. June of 2015 I started having occasional issues starting the car - as I had before the install. In particular, turning the key does not always engage the starter. After 5 or 6 tries, the car usually starts. Has anyone had a similiar experience? What is the next step??

you might need a new start lock out relay. these cars are getting old and relays wear out. It's located in the trunk on the right side under the carpet. it should be the bottom row on the left side. having said that it could be a number of other things as well. make sure there isn't any dampness under the driver seat, this is were your alarm system is located its tied in with the starting circuit
