Talking Magnetic materials in 3.4 blocks

I was just wondering if anybody has an engine apart, could you check the plating in the cylinders to see if it's ferrous? The piston plating is not ferrous, but I wonder if the magnetic sensitive flakes in peoples oil filters are cylinder plating.
