Help! Coolant comes out but won't go in

I just replaced my coolant tank on my 99 2.5 boxster and I drained the coolant as per the tech article here. When I go to re-fill the coolant the tank fills up and does not flow into the system, it just sits in the tank. The relief valve lever is up and still no movement. The tech article say "now fill the car with coolant". Am I missing something? is there another valve or plug that needs to open?

Because of how the cooling system is designed, these cars like to get air pockets trapped in them. This is no small thing as you could easily overheat and damage the engine if it gets air bound. The best way to fill these systems is using a vacuum filling system like the Uview system; that is how the factory and the dealer fill or refill them. With this tool, it is a 5 min. job to recharge the system without any chance of air pockets.

There's a whole protocol you need to follow, which involves running the engine for some time at elevated rpms, etc etc. If it's not described on the Pelican site, it's certainly in the Bentley manual. You basically need to force the bubbles out of the system...

Cool

I suggest you take the car to "Lion's Back" and stop on the way down. That will have the reservoir at the hi spot and should making burping the entire system super easy. But be sure to set the parking brake.
