Hi there I am looking at buying a 2002 2.7 boxster with a running issue, just looking for your thoughts on what may be wrong before I make the trip to go and see the car. Basically sometimes when you start the car it runs really lumpy and only on 3 cylinders but if you stop it and start it again a few times it will then fire up on 6 cylinders and run smoothly. My thoughts are possibly one of the vario cam solenoids sticking? Or could this be a sign of impending ims bearing failure?

If there was a stuck solenoid, a fault code would be stored. I would be curious if the fuel pump volume is low.
