Hello,
I have a 996 C2 3.4 from 1998 that has its engine changed in 2000. The car has now 150000 kilometers with the new engine replaced by Porsche. I read on some websites that 996 with high mileage at least 120000 kilometers should be trouble free regarding the IMS failure. Is this true = do you see M96 motors with high mileage and IMS bearing problems or do you still advice to have the IMS bearing replaced ? Thanks for all the good work ! __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: Pelican Technical Article: Boxster Intermediate Shaft Bearing Replacement and Upgrade (IMS) - 986 Boxster (1997-04) - 987 Boxster (2005-06) |

They still fail, even if they make it high mileage. I would still have it replaced / inspected.
