Hey guys. I tried calling in to Pelican Parts but didn't really get a good answer. I am looking to buy a MY2005 Boxster Base. The mfg. date on the sticker is 11/2004. It has not had a replacement engine according to the dealer I am buying from who has done all of the work since new. Do you think it has the replaceable single row bearing. I want to know if replacing with the clutch is an option before I buy. Thanks

Maybe. 2005 was a transitional year for the IMS used, some of the cars have the replaceable single row bearing, but many do not. Unfortunately, the only proven method to determine which bearing is in a 2005 car is to pull it apart and look; if you find a 22MM center bolt nut, it is the non serviceable bearing,

If you're doing the clutch anyway and it does not have the serviceable bearing, you can always peel away the seal to provide better lube directly to the bearing. MY '06 has 95k on it and I change the oil frequently and drive it with 'spirit' on the track.
