I have a shop doing an engine swap on my 03 2.7. The donor engine is a later model 05 2.7 with the non-serviceable IMS.
They did a transplant of most of the parts from the 03 onto the 05 block. They have been unable to get it run. The tech is stating that he either needs to move the cams from the 03 to the 05 something about a winglet or that a DME programming may be necessary they don't have a reader/programmer. Any thought or ideas on what I should tell them? What is preventing it from starting? Are there any fault codes?

The '05 is a 987 and the '03 is a 986... there may be DME software incompatibility that will need to be worked out.
