Question on Boxster Convertible Top Repair

I have a 2001 Boxster S. The top will not go down electrically but can be done manually. My mechanic says I need a new convertible top mechanism. Sound right? If so, how much? Also, I have a leak somewhere. Might replacing the convertible top mechanism fix that as well? Thanks.
