I'm attempting to install a Pioneer DEH-7800BHS I've connected the like colored wires to the harness but when I turn on the car the head unit nothing happens. No lights, and no sound. I've double checked my connections and they all appear to be good. I did have some wires from the head unit harness that didn't have a matching one on the Metra harness but I believe those are speakers which should be handled by the red-rca plug if I've read your article correct. Any ideas? I'm to the point of taking it to a professional installer.

I would confirm the fuse for the radio didn't accidentally blow during your install.

You didn't say what car you have but some do not have the switched 12 volts the aftermarket radio needs. If your car does not have the orange wire you will need to get switched power from somewhere.
