I have a 2012 Cayman R and have had 2 MAF failures I am now at 22k miles and have ordered a replacement MAF and a spare from Pelican. I am using an IPD plenum and 82mm throttle body. The MAF last failed at Laguna Seca with a CEL coming on right before I went onto the track. : When reading actual values, the durametric shows no signal from MAF sensor, but does show average mass air readings. The error messages relate to no communication and improbable MAF amounts. Plugging and unplugging the sensor doesn't change the no reading for MAF sensor. So it looks dead. But what could be causing the MAF to die. Besides contamination I use a no oil filter, is there anything else? This is very perplexing and as it takes at least an hour and half to change because of the plenum.... I would like to determine if there is another cause.

I would assume the sensor is OK and the issue is wiring. Check the engine harness for signs of rubbing or damage.
