987.2 cayman
What has been the owner experience with the 2009 and later cayman series? Are the engines more reliable that the earlier ones? What about head room and leg room? Thanks in advance!!!

The 9A1 engines are far more reliable. No oilling issues or IMS worries. Haven't heard much about D-chunking, bearing failures, valve issues, etc either. Bore scoring seems to be less common as well. The motors seem so much more reliable that you can find a used one quite a bit cheaper than the m97 engines. In fact I offered my 2.9L/DPK engine trans combo for $7k obo and not a single inquiry. Called some dismantlers and they don't want them either.

No IMS issues but do some reading on carbon buildup, common with a lot of early DFI engines.

The 9A1 is a very stout engine. Crankcase architecture is similar the the good old aircooled engines.
