My 2004 Boxster 2.7 eng temp rises to about 90c in traffic. Normally runs at 82c. Get home to find coolant leaking from under the car. There is also coolant condensation around the filler cap and under the removable plastic plate. As you probably know in Australia we run in degrees centigrade . Can you explain what is causing this please ? The coolant cap is new and no apparent rumbling noises from the water pump.

Either a faulty component (thermostat / water pump) or a leak. I would pressure test the cooling system. If the system will not hold pressure and there are no external leaks the head gasket may be faulty.

Are the radiator fans working? Have the radiators been cleaned of leaves/debris including behind the AC radiators? How many KM on the water pump? When was the last time the anti-freeze was changed? Is the thermostat working?
