I am in the middle of this challenging repair. I did have one thought. What if you disconnected the the hoses at their opposite end the end that does not connect at the firewall. Those points look easier to access than the area at the firewall. That way you could pull more length of the hoses into the trunk to make all the connections on the firewall side then install the fully assembled piece then reconnect the other ends. I am curious to find out how the dealer shops deal with replacing this part.

You could do that, to add slack and it might be quite helpful. You will however add the time of accessing the opposite end of the hoses.
