I have a working slave connected to the hydraulic line, but I'm not able to install it back in place. When I push it into place, even with the assist of a quick clamp, it is 2-5mm shy of where it needs to be for the bolt to fit. Do you have ideas about what would cause this? Transmission was dropped and reinstalled.

Hydraulic pressure. You will have to compress the slave while you install it. Or release the fluid and bleed once installed.
