Boxster engine weight
I have a 2.7 coming to put in my boxster project. Anybody got an idea how much it weighs? It's a 2002, include the alternator, air oil separator, and a starter, but no a/c compressor or throttle body.
I need to know if a light weight trans jack will work

Probably around 300# or so (a guess...I have no details). What is a lightweight transmission jack? I use a motorcycle jack on my 911 for the engine and the trans together. From my recollection of transmission jacks, one of those should work.

Thanks Pat. Yeah, I decided to use my motorcycle jack. If one is just swapping engines, do you need to remove the transmission (tiptronic) too?

And the engine alone weighs around 450 Lbs.

Thanks. I'll investigate that. Would give me the opportunity to replace the CV boots. Getting to sound like a bit of a long haul project.
Every new car/engine/trans project is quite a learning experience.
