Question - Lifting 987 with Floor Jack

Good afternoon,

It appears undercarriage covers need to be removed to expose the reinforced lifting point interior to where the jack stands should be placed. How are the covers removed/reinstalled without first lifting the car? Thanks.

Wayne

Hi Wayne - take a look at the link below to a tech article from our site; it should help you with the lift/jack points on your 987.

Thanks Dmitry Great article. It looks like the under carriage covers need to be off the car before you can access the reinforced area of the chassis (yellow arrow). Is that true? Thanks.

No problem! Correct, any of the plastic pieces/covers need to be taken off before getting to the reinforced area.

Thanks, One last question. What is the procedure to remove the covers prior to lifting the car? Thanks for your patience.

I find it useful to use a pair of Rhino ramps to get the front or back of car off the ground to get some room to see underneath.

it depends where you need to lift it, rear is easier then the front, since most jacks won't go deep enough to reach those reinforced areas.

Rear, just lift on the suspension point to get the jackstands under the X

For most things I uses a pair of these

Can get the ass up high in less then 2 minutes ( a light cayman goes up quicker then that truck in the video)
