identifying unknown part

need help identifying unknown part o 1985 300 sd Mercedes under headliner infront of sun roof opening. Can anyone help with this?

With a Mercedes who knows. They were know for oddball designs. Take a look at the brakes on a 1970’s MB. So many strange components.

That thing must be for draing water??? Follow the hose? May a fording intate hose for crossing streams.
