    Hey Wolfe,

I inherited a pair of Jazz pickups that I think are Nordstrands. One of them, unfortunately the main one (neck pup) shows infinite resistance. At the ends of the leads, and also the solder dots on the pickup body, there is infinite resistance. I think this means the pickup is dead. Perhaps a broken wire somewhere in the winding. Not sure what to do.

I also inherited a John East "J-Retro" 3-band preamp. I was hoping to start by installing the Nordys, but that appears to be not an option. I suppose my options are now limited to just nuclear option of installing the preamp using the existing Fender pickups, but I wonder if the existing pickups will mate with this preamp or whether I need "active" pickups for that.

I'm just sitting here, disappointed that the (Nordy?) neck pup is a dud, and wondering if you have advice or observations for me.

    Jim

How about I take picks of the guts on both of them and you can take a look see to see any obvious things. They should be wired the same right? I also have the schematics for the set up too. I can send them along.

    Best,
    David

THanks for helping if you can.
