Hi Mark - I am trying to remove the alternator from my 996 (2002 C2) - you write up is great - got to the part where I need to push the bushing in - used a drfit on the bolt - and even directly on the bushing itself - it will not move. Soaked in PB Blaster. How did you lever the alternator up anticlockwise ? (if I remove the lower bolt - I can move it clockwise - but the bracket for the right bolt will move but not enough to free itself from the bracket) - I could use a pry bar - but don't want to damage anything - trying to rotate the alternator by pulling on the main pulley will not move it. Thanks in advance for any good suggestions ...

My pleasure. My intent behind posting the information was to save people the expense of having to replace an alternator without all the time consuming research and cross referencing of part numbers.

I'll have a look at your post and see if I can offer anything else. i will say that whenever I find a problem with anything I turn to the internet (Pelican & Rennlist among others) first to see if I can find a fix myself. I feel far more comforatable working on my own car and making sure everything is done correctly.

I'm really glad my write up helped you out.

    Kind regards,

    Mark J. Holloway

Dude. You just saved me $683.

Thats what my local indie wanted to replace my alternator because "you cant buy a voltage regulator by itself".

My waterpump went out Jan 21st (2002 996 C4 Cab)

If you look at my thread - youll see what a nightmare it turned into.

ps: I found a company in VILLA RICA, GEORGIA called:HOLCOMBE ARMATURE CO.

They sell this same Bosch part for $13.85

Browsing Store - BH,14.5 Volt Set

    Thanks thanks thanks thanks.
