Hello, Steve! Well I'm not sure if you're supposed to add friends or not, I thought I'd add people who viewed my page. I work for Sports Car Company, and I thought listing our Porsches on here might help sell them quicker! I'll let you know if we have any parts come in.
    Paso Robles sounds amazing!!!

I have a fix that has worked for me. It requires a collar that is machined from aluminum (T 6606) that fits snugly over the outside of the #8 bearing and presses up against the joint of the bearing and the case. The inside bore of the collar is chamfered at 45 degrees where the bearing and case joint is.

The collar is glued into place with JB weld. The chamfer is what holds enough JB weld to make this all work. I'll post a picture of a finished collar later. You will need to remove the engine mount and the crank pulley to gain access to the bearing to make this repair. All can be done with the motor in the car. The collar is about 2.25 ID, 3.0 OD and about .50 long. Picture a piece of 2.25 ID pipe cut 1/2" long and you get the idea.

I have the collar machined so there is just a little interference when installing. I use an over-sized socket over the collar and push it on using a bolt and nut screwed into the front of the crank. I warm up the collar first.
