R56 Mini Cooper ABS / Speed Sensor Issue
I own a 2008 R56 Mini Cooper / Base Hatchback. To make a long story short we had an ice storm and there was a quite a bit of acceleration and forward and reversing going on and when all was said and done all the lights were illuminated. My OBD2 is telling me both the rear speed sensors were not functioning.
First mistake I think I made was buying aftermarket sensors. Replaced them easy enough. I cleared the code and after 2 or 3 trips the ABS light comes back on. I know get a voltage issue on one of the sensors. I check the OBD2 live data and 3 of the 4 sensors are 0 mph and 1 is 255 MPH. I move and 3 are working fine and 1 stays at 255 MPH. I clear the code and now all 4 sensors are working fine. The ABS light comes back on after a few trips. Same issue. Code is for the 2 rear sensors. I have been researching this and most the solutions are to replace the ABS module but based on the fact the sensors do work Im reluctant to forego this expensive route if the issue is actually a speed sensor or do I really have a voltage issue? I was also considering trying to replace the sensors with OEM but if they are recording Im not sure this ill resolve the problem. I also have a new battery and no voltage issues on any other systems. Any input and help would be appreciated |
