MK60 ABS Module Bleed
The MK60 ABS Module is used in many German car brands and I am trying to solve what could be air locked in my unit on a 2005 MINI Cooper S, R53.
After installing and testing MC and calipers I suspect air is trapped so the brake pedal offers zero resistance. I am using a Motive Power Bleeder and Foxwell NT510 Elite OBD-II Scanner with MINI programming to activate the ABS but its not making any difference. I have read comments at VW and BMW sites that say things like the unit only bleeds through the front calipers or the DSC unit has failed or there is debris in the pump, etc. What could I possibly investigate or pay more attention to ? I have a TEVES MK60 ABS system on a 2005 MINI Copper S which I believe has trapped air. Is anyone familiar with this system and bleeding procedure ?
I have done a lot of tests and I have all the necessary tools ( shop manual, Motive Pressure Bleeder, Foxwell NT510 Elite Diagnostic Tool to activate the ABS ). I have a new MC which I have bled multiple times on and off the car. I have plugged the MC brake ports and the pedal is rock hard. I have removed the calipers and plugged the lines to make sure I am not drawing air in through and seals while I am bleeding. I have used a pressure bleeder while loosening inlet ports on the ABS to inspect for air. My pedal has no resistance. At the moment I suspect I am doing something wrong with the ABS bleed procedure and / or the Bentley manual instructions are incorrect or incompatible with the way the Foxwell NT510 Elite activates the ABS. For starters, the Bentley Manual instructs two rounds of bleeding with a power bleeder and a diagnostic tool. Round One : Bleed RR - LR - FR - FL Round Two : Bleed RR - LR and when its time to do FR and FL, lightly pump the pedal while the pressure bleeder is engaged. This makes no sense to me. |
