Thanks Rick - why would you delete the sunroof? I noticed that Dave did the same.
When you say controls on the wheel, do you mean the paddle shifters with the steptronic or just the stereo and cruise control? Yeah, it seems the real virtue of the JCW kit is the warranty coverage. For now, it's not worth $5K for the extra HP (almost 20% increase in MSRP) as I will still have the real fun car in the stable. Thanks! Don

Don,
I would have ordered the stereo and cruise on the wheel. I would get the sunroof. Have one in the a4 and really like it. The JCW is really what makes the car that more fun. But, I do understand not needing to drop the dough. I would go for it JCW or not, you will have two fun cars in the stable!

I have had my MCS for 2 1/2 years and put on 24000 spirited fun filled miles. I would purchase another , this has been a very dependable car.
Oh my how much better than my older english built vehicles I have owned. Hmmm maybe I will try a new Lotus. I do get more comments on the MCS than the SC,my wife likes the SC better as far as looks. Helix 13 in Phila. can make your MINI scream for only about $2000 HAPPY MOTORING

What is the used "S" market like right now? I hear they are putting out a Turbo in 2006. But that requires waiting... Does any one have anything to say about the convertable? The sunroof looks big and great but also pretty heavy, no? (My other car is a 200,000+ mile VW cabriolet)
Jim, sorry to hijack your post! By the way how much for the 993? JT

I have a '03 JCW and love it. As a matter of fact its for sale so I can buy a 911 but I am not sure I want to part with it. I have 13K miles and have nver had a problem. The car is a delight to drive its very tossable.
Also, you can drive very aggressive on the street with it and people just point and say look at the cute car!! If I drove like that in my RX-7 I would be arrested. I am just trying to come to terms selling a brand new car to buy a 15 year old car. I think if it does not sell in 30 days at my asking price I will keep it. Having driven without then with the JCW kit. I will say the JCW kit is well worth the money it transforms the car from being prerrty quick to really quick.
